Integrated programming is a cultural shift. It’s not a matter of simply getting CCs working together or ensuring Programme and Advocacy are saying the same thing, although those practices are certainly important. Integrated programming is about a shared understanding between departments and sharing responsibility for the common objectives around displaced people. That means increasing transparency, communication, and collaboration across Programme, Support, and the whole Country Office.

Like any big change, bridging the Departmental divide can be scary. We get it. But we’ve learned through our own experience (and our peers') that two ingredients are key: clarity around expectations, and an environment of psychological safety. Without them, teams tend to thrash around making mistakes – and, worse, not learn from them.
